Watch Ad is one of the features in Candy Crush Jelly Saga. Ad, short for "advertisement", is one of the powerful way of obtaining free lives and playing on after running out of moves without paying gold bars.
Properties[]
This feature has a purple button with a white clapper board at the right side and some highlight white sparkles. It appears in 3 main elements: boosters, lives, and moves.
When the player clicks "Play" or "Watch Ad" with that button, the pink cotton cloud will appears from the bottom to top, then a waffle-cream airplane will fly with a clapper board banner from left to right, and clouds will go up to the top.
Each advertisement has different viewing duration, usually 5, 15 or 30 seconds. The player must watch in these specific duration to receive free reward, or lose the reward if they accidentally drop out of watching.
After watching, the cloud and the airplane will appear again and a notification will display, except the case that airplane will only fly to move count when the player has just run out of moves and then watch ad.
Boosters[]
This feature is first released on April 29 2020, you can get a free booster before playing by watching ad video, with a maximum of 5 times.
You will be given one of 3 boosters: Color Bomb, Coloring Candy or Double Delish Fish.
If you notice, boosters always pop up continuously. See carefully before clicking the button. Note that if there is an unlimited booster, the remaining ones will be chosen randomly.
On September 30 2021, you can get 1 free striped candy along with free moves when you have run out of moves. On October 13 2021, a free striped candy was removed.
On June 18 2023, the player couldn't watch ad in the level select menu. Instead, it only appeared when they lost a level. It was fixed on July 4 2023.
Lives[]
This feature is first released on September 24 2019. When the player is out of lives, an option table below will show up with an airplane.
To get 1 free life, the player must watch any ad given; and the player needs internet connection to perform this.
The player has a maximum of 5 times watching ads in one day.
On July 13 2022, there is a new update when you have run out of lives. You will have 3 turns to watch ad and get 3 free lives. The player can select "Collect" if they think it's enough and collect current total lives.
Moves[]
This feature is first released on February 4 2020. When the player has run out of moves, an option table below will show up.
To get 3 free moves, the player must watch any ad given; and the player needs an internet connection to perform this. To boss levels, you only get 2 free moves to stun the boss. If you have run out of moves again, the feature won't appear.
The player has a maximum of 5 times watching ads in one day.
On September 4, 2021, the player can get 3 moves to stun boss instead of 2.
On September 16 2021, there is a new update when you have run out of moves. You will have 3 turns to watch ad and get free moves. 2 first turns have 2 moves, the last turn has 1 move. The purple circle will start at the first free move of "Watch Ad". After you watched the first video, "+5 moves" option will disappear and the circle will move to the next free move. The player can select "Watch Ad" again or choose "Play on" if they think it's enough. You need to be careful a bit because if you hit "Back" on the phone, the gameplay will freeze and you must replay from scratch.
On September 30 2021, 1 free move was replaced by 1 free striped candy at the last turn.
On October 13 2021, a free striped candy was removed. You only have 2 turns to watch ad and get free moves. On October 14 2021, it is back with 3 turns to watch ad and get free moves.
On October 18 2021 in the morning, you also have 2 turns to watch ad and get free moves. However, there is a bit change. The first turn has 2 moves and the second turn has 1 move. Until the same day in the evening, it is suddenly back with 3 turns to watch ad and get free moves.
On January 14 2022 in the morning, there is a bit change. The first turn has 3 moves and the third turn has 2 moves, 2 free moves at the second turn was replaced by 1 free color bomb. Not so long, it is suddenly back with 3 turns to watch ad and get free moves.
On January 25 2022, there is only one turn and it has only 2 moves.
On February 4 2022, the first turn has 2 moves, the second turn has 3 moves and the last turn has 1 free color bomb.
Each version can be changed randomly in a period of time.
It also works the same in boss levels. If you have run out of moves again, the feature won't appear.

Trivia[]
- On 21 February 2024, a speech bubble appeared next to watch ad button for the first time. In level select screen, Odus appeared, but the hand which was pointing to the button belonged to Cupcake Carl.
